Thank you for choosing a piece from Beyo Vintage.

Every item that leaves our workshop has already lived a long life before reaching its new home. Whether it is a restored dining table, a sideboard, or a newly upholstered chair, your furniture carries history, craftsmanship, and character that cannot be recreated in newly produced furniture.

With the right care, your vintage piece can continue to stay beautiful, practical, and full of life for many years to come.

Caring for Wooden Furniture

Most vintage wooden furniture does not need complicated maintenance. In everyday use, the most important thing is to treat the surface gently.

For regular cleaning, use a soft, dry cloth or a slightly damp cloth. Avoid strong cleaning sprays, alcohol-based products, abrasive sponges, or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the surface over time. A soft microfiber cloth is usually enough for dust, fingerprints, and light marks.

Wood is a natural material, which means it can react to heat, moisture, sunlight, and changes in indoor climate. Small signs of use are normal and are part of the charm of owning vintage furniture.

Your Care Kit from Beyo Vintage

With your furniture, you may have received a small care kit with MP52 oil and a cloth. This is intended for simple maintenance at home, especially for small marks, light scratches, dull areas, or minor water rings.

Apply a small amount of oil to the cloth and gently rub it into the affected area, following the direction of the wood grain. Let it sit for around 15 minutes, then wipe away any excess with paper or a clean cloth.

The goal is not to completely change the surface, but to refresh and protect smaller areas when needed.

If you run out of MP52, you are always welcome to visit our showroom and we can help you with more.

Important Safety Information

Cloths, paper, or rags used with furniture oils must be handled carefully. Oil-soaked materials can become flammable if they are left crumpled together.

After use, do not leave oily cloths or paper in a pile. Let them dry flat outdoors, place them in water before throwing them away, or dispose of them in a safe, sealed container. This is a simple but important safety step when working with oil-based care products.

Long-Term Maintenance

Many of our wooden pieces are finished with protective furniture oil or hardwax oil, depending on the item and its condition. These finishes help protect the wood while keeping its natural look and feel.

For long-term care, wooden furniture may benefit from being refreshed every 1–2 years, depending on how much it is used. A dining table used every day will usually need more attention than a sideboard or cabinet.

You do not need to do this often, and you should not over-treat the furniture. If the surface starts to look dry, dull, or more sensitive to stains, it may be time for maintenance.

If you are unsure what your piece needs, you are always welcome to contact us before applying anything.

Simple Tips for Everyday Use

Use coasters, placemats, or table mats to protect against water marks, heat, and stains.

Avoid placing hot cups, plates, or pans directly on wooden surfaces.

Try to keep furniture away from strong direct sunlight, as it can fade both wood and fabric over time.

Be careful with very dry indoor air during winter. Wood can react to low humidity, so a balanced indoor climate is better for vintage furniture.

Do not worry too much about small signs of life. Patina is part of what makes vintage furniture special.

Upholstered Furniture

For upholstered chairs, armchairs, and sofas, regular vacuuming with a soft furniture nozzle is usually enough for everyday care.

If you spill something, act quickly. Gently blot the area with a clean cloth instead of rubbing, as rubbing can push the stain deeper into the fabric. For more difficult stains, we recommend contacting a professional cleaner or reaching out to us for advice.

Avoid placing upholstered furniture in strong sunlight for long periods, especially darker fabrics, leather, or wool, as they can fade over time.
